Webinar on the Topic “Tips for Achieving Excellence in Safety Profession."
The second webinar was held on Sunday, June 21st 2020 between 11.00AM & 12.00 PM. Large number of participants from all over India participated in the webinar.
Thiru S Ulaganathan, Vice President of SEA India,a Chemical Engineer Diploma In Industrial Safety & advanced Diploma in International Safety
Management from UK , having more than 30 years of safety experience presented the second webinar of SEA India on the topic “Tips for Achieving
Excellenc in Safety Profession".
Thiru S Ulaganathan explained how the safetyprofession is different from other professions with advantages and disadvantages. He further narrated
the need to develop a passion towards the job so as to excel in the profession.
The need to be the best, dependable, competent, reliable, ethical and positive approach for all issues were explained as the Traits for good
Professionalism.
He also explained the principles and rules for achieving excellence.
The skills in communication, adaptability, analyzing the task, planning, interpersonal skills, team work, and research in skills with genuine concern for people, hungry for knowledge and research oriented approach were said to be the characteristics for success.
For achieving Professional Excellence, Intrinsic knowledge , the difference between right and wrong, exhibiting empathy, adoptability , Integrity and the courage with meaningful attitude are the pillars.
For achieving safety leadership & safety excellence,the safety professional should establish effective leadership in safety by adopting safety culture with due support from the management by maintaining confidence, commitment, providing proper direction, inspiration and guidance for achieving the goal. Increasing the qualification, eye on corporate affairs, watch on HSE developments, organizing and participating in internal and external progress will increase the competency.
He concluded by conveying the facts that keeping the passion for achieving the target by bench marking the goal with enhancing competency and good leadership with hard work and dedication to the assigned job are the main tips for achieving excellence in Safety Profession.
