Group Discussion on Improving the Safety Performances at work places (20-09-2020)
Mr G M E K Raj, Director General (Retd), DGFASLI, Govt of India was the moderator and coordinated the group discussion.
Mr P P Janarthanam, Addl Chief Inspector of Factories, (Retd), Govt of Tamilnadu discussed in detail.
The Role of Safety Officers in fulfilling the statutory safety requirements, Duties of the Occupier to ensure safety fulfillment in the work places and explained the Enforcement Officials Role during Factory Inspection and the legal penalty provisions.
Dr Sriram, Managing Director of Sriram Safety & Quality Management Services discussed the Role of Management by explaining the 6M Methodology namely (1) Make Proper Road Map for implementing EHS Policies (2) Make the Safety Culture balanced with industries and its exposure to risk by suitable Training Programmes (3) Monthly Review of Progress and controls (4) Make necessary Innovations and improvement (5) Motivate all employees to adhere to the safety norms by linking safety as a important criteria for performance appraisals and (6) Motivate top Management to allocate necessary resources.
Mr T R Murali with CSP and various safety qualifications and having more than 23 years of experience in the field of Safety discussed the Role of Safety Professionals to improve safety performance at workplace. He explained in detail the need to create Self Awareness, Safety Culture Building by Safety Professionals along with developing the qualities of continuous learning , integrity, customer oriented attitude, Team work building towards safety and the Safety Data Analysis.
