The Safety Professionals Development Conference was held on 1O^th Decemeber 2004 at 9:30 hrs, in Chennai.The function was presided over by several dignitaries.

Dr.M.Lakshmanan President of SEA (India),welcomed the participants, presidential address rendered by Mr.R.Thiruvengadam Cheif Inspector of Factories (Retd.) & Chairman of NSC - TN Chapter, inaugural address by Thiru.K.A.Mohamed Aziz Cheif Inspector of Factories, Govt. of TamilNadu. Mr.M.Ravichandran Secretary of NSC - TN Chapter ,proposed a vote of thanks.

The Conference was preceded by a Technical Lectures by, Mr.P.Manoharan HSE Manager - India Actitivies Ltd on Safety Management Practices in Industry - A role Model and Mr.P.Nagarajan Deputy Director Safety Regional Labour Institute, Chennai made on Career Development Plans - for Safety Professionals.

Seminars on case studies presented by Mr.S.Ulaganathan HSE Manager, Hardy Exploration & Production (I) INC. and Mr.S.Selvaganapathy - Safety Co Ordinator L&T ECC Division and Mr.M.Ravichandran Chief Manager Fire & Safety Madras Fertilisers Ltd.

An exhibition on Safety Products were also displayed. Above 100 participants attended the programme.

The Seventh Technical Meet programme on " Offsite Emergency Management - Case Studies " was held at Saturday, 9^th October 2004 , Mr.S.Ramanujam Dy. General Manager (Safety) Saipem India Projects Services Ltd, Chennai made an presentation on Offsite Emergency Management.

The Sixth Technical Meet programme on Effectiveness of Safety Education Programme & ergonomic Design of P.P.E was held at Saturday, 17^th April 2004, Dr.R.K.Elangovan, M.Tech., Ph.D, Inspectorate of Factories, Govt of TamilNadu made an presentation on Effectiveness of Safety Education.

The official website of SEA (India) "www.seaindia.org" was launched on 1^st April 2004, Mr.R. Thiruvengadam, Chief Inspector of Factories, Govt. of TamilNadu launched the website and in his speech he appreciated that the site was very much user-friendly and would contribute to the cause of safety promotion in industries.
